It's been a while since the last post, but we've been busy with day to day living. Harry and I have been running around in the morning, Monday was oil change day, Tuesday was quiet, Wednesday we got the fabric in the Ballade fixed...the ceiling fabric was loose from the foam backing and it needed replacing. This was done in Maitland near Bellville. We were going to the Hospice there so made the appointment and had a great chat with the owner there. He loved to talk, and ended up giving us a great price as well as fixing the leather on the seat. It pays to listen. This morning the rivets on the chariot gave up the ghost and I ran the brackets down to the welder to have them re-done. This also was nice as he didn't charge us one bit and upgraded the rivets to steel instead of aluminum. We'll see how this does.
The weekend is calling for low temps and rain with high winds...a good time to climb a mountain...not. (in the voice of Borat)
Henry's choir did a great job on Monday evening at the Eistenfed in Bellville. They ended up with a mark of just under 80 while the senior choir had 82. I have video of two of the songs they sang. We ended up leaving at the interval as it was almost 8:30 after the first half was over.
The trip to the observatory on Saturday evening was nice...we had a wonderful view of Saturn and could see the rings as well as some of the moons. We'd love to get to Sutherland to see the most powerful telescope in the southern hemisphere at some point, but it is a four hour drive into the Karoo....no light pollution and very little cloud cover.
We had two birthday parties last Sunday and that was nice I didn't have to cook...the tasty samoosas bared their pretty heads at both parties.
This Saturday is the show down between the Sharks and the Bulls, both SA rugny teams. This is the first time that both teams in the final are from SA. Traditionally the teams from NZ and AUS are stronger. It'll be a boon to SA rugby no matter who wins. The other news is the selection of the Springboks national squad for the world cup this year. The captain from the Stormers was picked amidst some controversy as the coach was overruled by the president of the rugby association....do a google on Luke Watson and you can read all about it.
Anyway, enjoy the hot weather in Manitoba!
