NZ's South African Adventure

Stormy weather continues. We're in the midst of a weeklong deluge, the temperature now is a balmy 8.8C. Apparently there are/were 4 cold fronts moving through the area this week. We're on number 3 or 4 now and we've had massive amounts of rain, thunder and lightning, even some hail. The sun continues to shine every twenty minutes or so between rain showers though which is ironic. Rugby for Henry was cancelled today and tomorrow due to heavy flooding. I can only imagine how the temporary housing has held up in the low lying areas.
I've been trying to read as many SA authors as I can find, moving from popular writers through to more acclaimed Booker and Nobel prize winners such as JM Coetzee. John van de Ruit writes a hilarious take on boarding school called "Spud" which I've bought and will bring back to Canada for anyone who wants to borrow it. Think MCI.
The weekend should be fun, we're invited out for supper tomorrow and then Isabel's dedication in Stellenbosch on Sunday.

  • Really enjoying your blogs. Look almost every day. The book "Spuds" sounds interesting, though I'm not sure I want to think to hard about MCI. Hope you have a great weekend. Audrey
