NZ's South African Adventure

Tonight we're off to the Observatory in...you guessed it Observatory. Every mile or so there is another suburb and this one has an obvious name. We are in Mowbray which is between Obs and Rosebank. There is a special event for families tonight and since the fog has cleared off since this morning, the viewing should be good.
Last night was pizza and movie night and the kids saw "the Wild" and the adults watched "Night at the Museum" which were fun movies. Butler's supplied the pizza. Henry enjoyed himself at rugby and also had a good afternoon at his friend Carl's place which is close by. Harry, Carla and I went to Fish Hoek in the morning and Paarl on Thursday. She got some good interviews and Harry and I enjoyed the morning at the beach.
Monday Henry is singing with his choir at the Tygerberg Eistenfod, or choirfest. This should be good since the South African Youth Choir is performing a few songs.
Tomorrow will be busy as we have been invited to two birthday parties.

My Name is Earl...we've been watching season one that Christine and Matt sent out. Pretty funny show...she also sent 30 Rock and Arrested Development but we haven't gotten into those yet. The Dog Whisperer is also really cool and the kids like to watch that one. Watching TV without commercials is not over-rated, that is the best way. I think a PVR is on the list for when we return home.
We're into some low 20's weather here now...had some hot stuff over the weekend, but we're settling into sweaters in the morning for our walk. The sun is not up when we leave and it is down around 6. I anticipate that it will be like a winter in Winnipeg that way...dark in the morning, dark in the evening...but no snow here.

Back into the groove.
We're minus visitors now for the first time in a month. I'd say back to normal, but now it feels empty at home. Ochi came for supper last night so that was nice. I made some butter chicken...tonight is java mix, a curry base with ostrich meat. Should be good.
In rugby action the Stormers lost their last game, they are now done. Everyone is throwing their support behind the Sharks (Durban) or the Bulls (Pretoria) as they battle teams from Australia in the semis of the Vodacom Super 14 league playoffs. After two weeks the national teams will start gearing up for the World Cup in France later this year. We're hoping to see an exhibition game between the Springboks and England. Rugby reminds me of hockey with the constant (and physical) play. The only stoppages occur after a penalty or a lineout. No big delays like cricket and baseball.
