NZ's South African Adventure

Weekend is here! Not a moment too soon. We walked in slight rain today to the schools, so it was nice to see the end in sight. Henry has rugby this afternoon and a game tomorrow. We'll head to Wimpy's for supper afterwards. We're also going to attend a local high school production of Oklahoma in Pinelands tomorrow evening and have a sitter for Harry and Katy. Henry wanted to come. On Sunday we have an invite for lunch from a family from Henry's school. We are looking forward to that.
It appears that the unions that run the schools may go on strike again. We're not sure when but we have been warned. Also there have been fuel shortages brought on by strikes at the refineries so we need to fill up the tank before they run out (not likely).

What a day today! We just got back from picking up Katy from her field hockey practice and everyone is in tshirts instead of sweaters. 22C and sunny for the first time in almost two weeks. However the rain returns on Thursday. At any rate, we enjoy this African weather while we can.
The weekend was not full of surprises, we travelled to Hout Bay for some fish action and took a marvellous drive over Chapman's Peak. I bought some butter fish and made some fish cakes. These went over quite well with everyone, not one left on the plate. The smell lingers on however, if anyone knows Greg and I living together while at CMBC, then can take a while to get rid of. Those were smelly fish experiences.
On Sunday after church we headed out to Stellenbosch for Isabel's child dedication. That was nice, the kids got to watch some TV and we had some nice tea and snacks afterward. On the way home there was an accident on the N2 freeway and we had to wait for almost an hour in traffic. The rain and storms caused much havoc especially with the low lying housing. Almost 35000 people displaced for periods of time.
I'm finally digging into the Harry Potter, jumping the queue while Carla is reading Spud. Won't give anything away though.
